Dr Jon Steinberg is a graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School. He completed his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1996 and is a member of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age. Since completing his Fellowship Dr Steinberg has worked in the area of adult general psychiatry and old age psychiatry both in the public and private sector.
He has participated in a number of trials of atypical antipsychotic medications in schizophrenia and mood disorders. He has been on the National Advisory Boards for a number of the atypical antipsychotic medications since 2001. Dr Steinberg currently holds a senior lecturer position at the University of Queensland and is involved with educational activities for psychiatrists and general practitioners focused on mood disorders, old age psychiatry and dementia and its early detection and treatment.
He is the Director of the Psychosis program at the New Farm Clinic (private psychiatry clinic) and is Medical Director at Caloundra Private Clinic as well as holding a number of visiting medical officer positions at hospitals in Brisbane.
