Dr. Golhar is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP) and holds the Advanced Training Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the RANZCP.
Since August 2012, Dr Golhar has been working clinically in the public sector in child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) at Shepparton and Seymour. He recognises the child and adolescent mental health needs and challenges in regional Australia. He started a private clinic at the Shepparton Private Hospital in January 2018.
In his private practice, Dr Golhar provides diagnostic evaluation, pharmacotherapy and psychotherapeutic treatment for young people aged 0-25 yrs and their families in the context of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and challenging behaviours. He specifically emphasises therapeutic collaboration with the parents/carers of the young people and other stakeholders (schools, GPs, therapists, paediatricians, et al.). He provides tele-psychiatry support to his clients, when required.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Golhar teaches medical students and psychiatry trainees at the University of Melbourne. He also enjoys interacting with GPs, paediatricians, and professionals from schools and allied health services via talks and workshops.
At present, his private practice is unable to provide appointments for medico-legal assessments or reports, or for crisis assessments.
