Dr Praveen Sukumaran is a specialist Psychiatrist with experience in Australia and overseas for over 10 years. 

Dr Sukumaran is a RANZCP college certified specialist Psychiatrist who commenced his practice in Cairns public mental health sector in 2013.

Although he has worked in various capacities and roles – such as integrated inpatient and community management of patients, administration and coordination of ECT, he has more recently focussed on community based management of mental health patients within the principles of a recovery focussed model of care.

He is passionate about providing holistic high quality mental health care, collaborating with families, other specialists and service providers to achieve the best possible treatment outcomes for patients and their families.

His interests include the management of: 

• Mood disorders
• Anxiety disorders
• Substance use disorders

Dr Sukumaran consults privately and supports adult inpatients at Ramsay Clinic Cairns.
