Dr Sam Mikhaiel began his career in the field of psychiatry in Queensland, where he has worked across multiple mental health services. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He pursued additional training in Old Age Psychiatry and was awarded his Certificate in Old Age Psychiatry in 2020. He is currently a Lecturer at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. Dr Mikhaiel has the competency and expertise to assess and manage a broad range of Psychiatric Disorders in the adult and older adult population. This includes but not limited to; Adult ADHD assessments, Anxiety Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Depressive and Bipolar Affective Disorders, Personality Disorder, and Trauma-related mental health issues including PTSD. He has an interest in the interplay of mental health issues of older adults and cognitive disorders (Dementia Disorders). Dr Mikhaiel offers his patients the most recent evidence-based practices in Psychiatry including; psychotropic medications, psychotherapy (IPT, CBT, and Psychodynamic Therapy), and Neuro-stimulation treatments (ECT and TMS). His main focus is to openly and effectively communicate with his patients, families, and caregivers to deliver a holistic paradigm of care that promotes recovery from mental illness. He aims to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide the optimal standards of care to his patients. Dr Mikhaiel is happy to see DVA and WorkCover patients |
