Dr Venkatram Chekuri completed his medical training in India and then pursued post graduate training in Psychiatry in the United Kingdom. He obtained membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists (U.K.) and also completed higher specialist training in adult psychiatry and addictions. Before moving to Australia, he worked as a consultant psychiatrist in West of Scotland and also held several training, managerial and leadership positions. He subsequently obtained fellowship of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and worked in both inpatient and community settings at Peninsula Health.
Venkat is passionate about providing person centred and evidence based care to achieve excellent clinical outcomes. He has over 17 years experience working in mental health, and a particular interest in management of treatment resistant mood disorders (depression and bipolar), anxiety disorders, substance misuse disorders, schizophrenia and other psychoses.
